Jacket, by Victor

Corey Mason

Corey and I have known each other for years, but weren’t very close until a year or two ago.

I hadn't talked to him in a long while, but sent an email out of the blue asking if he'd be into a trade of time-for-time... the proposition was he'd come to my workshop and paint/draw/create something at the same time I'd make a garment for him. We'd work for 8 hours and trade whatever we had at the end - good, bad, amazing, or ugly. He was into it.

So one Friday he came to the shop at 1pm and we popped a bottle of wine (that my friend Pax made) and got to work. He pinned two 7ftx4ft canvases on our wall and started painting, meanwhile I pulled out a black canvas I had bleached down to a rusty clay color and started cutting a 3/4 length jacket.

Both of our projects worked out and I have his paintings up in my dining room today.
