We make these jeans in small runs and expect to sell every pair. A run might be as low as 40 and is rarely higher than 400. The leather patch on the back tells what number pair you have and how large the run size was.
OUR FIT MENTOR
In 2008, Chris Ellsberg, a master pattern maker with 60 years of experience, walked into our workshop and changed the game. She had heard we were making jeans with old-school methods and wanted to be a part of it. Back then, we didn’t have money to pay ourselves, much less Chris. But she signed on anyway because the work meant more to her than the money. Chris has taught us loads about the art of making jeans that flatter the lines of the body.
SECRET HIP BONES
After you’ve worn your jeans a few months, they’re no longer two dimensional. They become shaped like your body. So, we thought we’d give them bones. Victor found a hip x-ray and started silk-screening bones on the inside of the front pockets — in the anatomically correct position next to your real hip bones.
WE SIGN EVERY PAIR
When we started, we made every pair ourselves and signed each one. For us, it was just what you did when you made something and you were proud of it. Today, when one of our jeansmiths has reached a point where they’re as good or better than we are, we have a little ceremony and we give them a sharpie so they can start signing their work. Look for the signature on the inside front pocket.
Best pair of pants I own
These smell amazing right out of the bag — super clean earthy cotton smell. Crips hand denim with superlative construction, sewing, and design choices on every level. I can’t wait to see the fades I get to put on these. In my opinion, the Organic cotton Raleigh jeans are the most authentically American jeans anywhere on the market today.
First Pair of Raleigh’s
Honestly I’ve never spent this kind of money on jeans before. I’ve worn Hudson’s and Nudie’s and Diesel denim and so making the leap to $330 is steep. But I have to say they are by far the best made jeans I’ve ever worn. They’re stiff as a board when they arrive! However, after wearing them 2 days in a row they are well on their way to breaking in for that custom fit. I had to have mine hemmed, but that was easy given these are raw SELVEGE Denim! I’ll be back for another pair. Nice job guys!
