How We Do

Our Fit Mentor

In 2008, Chris Ellsberg, a master pattern maker with 60 years of experience, walked into our workshop and changed the game. She had heard we were making jeans with old-school methods and wanted to be a part of it. Back then, we didn’t have money to pay ourselves, much less Chris. But she signed on anyway because the work meant more to her than the money. Chris has taught us loads about the art of making jeans that flatter the lines of the body.

Washing Raw Denim

With our raw denims, we recommend 3-6 months of regular wear before washing for the best break-in.  We encourage a loose interpretation of the term "wash."

We Sign Every Pair

When we started, we made every pair ourselves and signed each one. For us, it was just what you did when you made something and you were proud of it. Today, when one of our jeansmiths has reached a point where they’re as good or better than we are, we have a little ceremony and we give them a sharpie so they can start signing their work. Look for the signature on the inside front pocket.

Raleigh Denim Womens Surry Raw

With all my searching for the perfect, Made in USA, women's jeans, why had I not found Raleigh Denim before? These Jean's are absolutely awesome! They fit true to size and are really very comfortable. I can bend easily and they hold their shape quite well. The only two slight problems are that they a little pricey (you do get what you pay for because they are very worth it) and I need a black pair. Bottom line, I love them and will eventually get another pair.

yet another guy loving Haywoods

These fit amazing, like putting on a glove. I thought I would try out this style after you posted an instagram photo "Dudes can do Haywoods, too" or something like that. Thought the high waist might get uncomfortable but with the stretch raw (hard to pull off well), these are the best fit of all jeans will be compared to. I have long legs and skinny wait which helps, but also explains why mens jeans are so hard to for me to get to fit correctly. This was a risk that paid off.

Really nice jeans, especially if you’re tall!

I really like these jeans so far, though I’ve only had them a week. I ordered two sizes down (started with one size down and it was still too big) and they’re just a little on the small side but not too small - I think they’re going to work. My only complaint is they’re SO long, right now I’m rolling them four times to get ankle length, so I’ll probably send them in to get shortened at some point. But these are definitely the nicest jeans I’ve found yet!
